STB College Football Rankings

  1. Boise State (Broncos could easily score 60+ points a game if they kept starters in at least through the entire 3rd quarter)
  2. Oregon (barely squeaked by Cal--but still undefeated)
  3. Auburn (all the Cam Newton controversy distractions seemed to disappear by the 2nd quarter vs. Georgia, toughest test yet to come still--in Tuscaloosa November 26)
  4. TCU (allowing 35 points to San Diego State at home after pummeling BCS #5 Utah, coupled with Utah getting embarrassed at Notre Dame and Auburn's 18-point win over Georgia dropped the Horned Frogs a spot)
  5. Ohio State (beat a quality, pumped-up Penn State team by 24)
  6. LSU (dear Les Miles, don't brag about "playing everybody" and having such a "quality schedule" and then go play Louisiana-Monroe days later, which came two weeks after the Tigers played McNeese State by the way)
  7. Wisconsin (I know what you're thinking, "The Badgers beat Ohio State earlier in the year and just crushed Indiana 83-20." Impressive, but I still say they're the 7th best team in the land. Oregon and Boise St. could hang 100 on Indiana if they played starters the whole game and TCU would shut 'em out. As for Ohio State, I say the Buckeyes would go 2-0 if they had the Badgers two more times. Just a hunch I guess, sorry Wisconsin fans.)
  8. Stanford (survived a close one at Arizona State, I predict the Cardinal lose at Cal this week)
  9. Alabama (4-2 vs. ranked opponents this year, both losses were on the road--Boise State, Oregon and TCU combined have only played 6 ranked opponents this year--2 each)
  10. Nebraska (Cornhuskers have got to be kicking themselves for not being undefeated--only loss was at home against under-achieving Texas)
  11. Arkansas
  12. Oklahoma State
  13. Virginia Tech
  14. Michigan State
  15. Oklahoma
  16. Nevada
  17. Missouri
  18. South Carolina
  19. Texas A&M
  20. USC
  21. Iowa
  22. Utah
  23. Miami
  24. Arizona
  25. Northwestern

  1. 1. BSU- good team that's capable of beating anyone on any given day... just not after playing 2 or 3 SEC teams the prior weeks. They've earned a Fiesta Bowl and should be happy with it.
    2. Oregon- Yeah a close game at Cal, but I'll give anyone a couple close games on the road.
    3. Auburn- even with a young and mediocre defense they're still the best team in the nation... Only the NCAA will stop Cam Newton... unless the Bama offense can keep up with them.
    4. TCU- There's some flaws there. Top ten team? Maybe...
5.Ohio State- almost as overrated as Utah. Penn State is horrible. Pryor is a joke. Maybe a top 15 team bc of their coach.
    6. LSU- Miles can brag about his schedule all they want. Who is going to make fun of it? Boise? Oregon?

  2. I agree that Boise State and Oregon clearly have easier schedules than LSU, Auburn and Alabama... the SEC is the best football conference, no one is disputing that... at the same time though, Louisiana-Monroe and McNeese State are BOTH worse than anyone on Boise or Oregon's schedules... so it was funny to me that he made that comment right before playing LA-Monroe and just 2 weeks after McNeese St...

Also, you really think Ohio State is as overrated as Utah was?! No way!! I fully agree that after those top 4 teams, there's some major separation, but I think Ohio State might finally be for real again... and likely will be a major contender for the title in 2011.

  3. Buckeyes lost to the only really tough team on their schedule. No secret the Big 10 is pretty weak this year. Buckeyes aren't as overrated as Utes... but close. Look at Pryor's numbers against decent teams... its pretty bad. Well, maybe not bad, but not worth the hype. I'd rank em around 13.

  4. P.S. Six of Mel Kiper's top ten draft picks this year are from the SEC.
